Full-Time Instructor (Dental Hygiene)

Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for its Full-Time Instructor (Dental Hygiene) in the Health and Public Safety Department of the Academic Affairs division. This position is located on Atlanta Technical College's Main campus, just South of Downtown Atlanta.

Under general supervision of the Dean of Health and Public Safety Technology, the Full-Time Instructor (Dental Hygiene) is responsible for preparing and delivering quality curriculum with daily instruction of students in the classroom, dental lab & clinical settings.

Duties and responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:

  • Demonstrates the use of appropriate testing and grading procedures, including proper maintenance of grade books and any other appropriate record-keeping requirements.
  • Demonstrates the effective use of oral and written communication skills, and knowledge of current procedures in the Dental Hygiene field.
  • Follows approved curriculum standards and course syllabus.
  • Monitors student use of supplies, materials, and equipment. Advises and counsels students and maintains appropriate advisement records on each student. Maintains classrooms, clinic, and laboratories in accordance with approved classroom and lab management plans.
  • Attends meetings as required.
  • Observes and enforces the institution's policies and regulations.
  • Assists with student recruitment and job placement. Serves on committees.
  • Maintains qualifications for employment as described by the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) and accreditation standards.
  • Follows rules and regulations as described by the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) and other policies and procedures established by the institution.
  • Assists in the development of reports and other requirements for Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) agencies.

Minimum Qualifications

Must possess and demonstrate a Bachelor's degree or higher in a health-related field AND Three (3) or more years of paid full-time work experience and teaching experience in a dental hygiene program.

Certifications/Licenses:

  • Georgia State Licensure as a Dental Hygienist in Good Standing.
  • Local Anesthesia Certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification by American Heart Association.

Preferred Qualifications

Must posses a Master's Degree in a health related field AND Five (5) or more years of paid full-time work experience and teaching experience in a dental hygiene program.
