HVAC Service Technician (Chillers)

$48.00 - $58.00/hr + Overtime + Benefits

An established HVAC and mechanical services organization is seeking an experienced HVAC Service Technician with strong chiller expertise to support commercial, industrial, and mission-critical facilities throughout the Austin market.

This is an excellent opportunity for a senior-level technician looking to leverage their expertise on complex HVAC systems while working with a highly skilled service team. The role focuses heavily on servicing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining centrifugal, screw, scroll, and reciprocating chillers, along with associated mechanical equipment and control systems. Responsibilities:

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair commercial and industrial chiller systems

• Service and maintain water-cooled and air-cooled chillers, cooling towers, boilers, pumps, and associated mechanical equipment

• Perform advanced system diagnostics, preventative maintenance, equipment overhauls, and major component replacements

• Troubleshoot refrigeration, electrical, hydronic, mechanical, and controls-related issues

• Perform equipment startups, commissioning support, operational testing, and system optimization

• Troubleshoot controls integration issues and verify proper system operation

• Respond to service calls and provide technical support to customers

• Complete service documentation and maintain accurate maintenance records

• Communicate effectively with customers, service coordinators, and internal teams

• Deliver exceptional customer service while maintaining safe work practices

Qualifications:

• 8+ years of commercial HVAC service experience preferred

• Extensive experience servicing and troubleshooting chillers required

• Experience with water-cooled and air-cooled chiller systems required

• Experience with one or more major chiller manufacturers including Carrier, York, Trane, and Daikin strongly preferred

• Experience servicing cooling towers including BAC (Baltimore Aircoil Company), Reymsa, and Evapco equipment preferred

• Experience servicing commercial boiler systems including Raypak, Lochinvar, Ajax, and Laars preferred

• Strong background in equipment installation, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and major repair work

• Experience with equipment startups, commissioning, and system performance testing preferred

• Working knowledge of HVAC controls, BAS integration, and electrical troubleshooting

• Strong understanding of refrigeration cycles, hydronic systems, pumps, cooling towers, and boiler operations

• Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, control drawings, and technical documentation

• Data center, industrial, healthcare, or other mission-critical facility experience is highly preferred

• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills

• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record

• High School Diploma or GED
