Marine Operations Superintendent

Lead marine operations for SSA Marine Canada Ltd. as a full-time Superintendent in North Vancouver, coordinating vessel cargo activity and safety.

Reporting to the General Manager, Mainland Ship Operations, you will supervise ship loading and discharge activities. The position combines planning, coordination, reporting, and follow-up with frontline leadership. Success requires marine operations knowledge, cargo handling experience, and strong stakeholder communication.

Key Responsibilities:

• Coordinate vessel cargo operations with shipping lines and contractors
• Plan labour, equipment, and resources before operations
• Direct safe vessel loading and discharge activities
• Supervise cargo operations and support forepersons
• Complete operational reporting and post-operation reviews

Requirements:

• Background in ship stevedoring, marine operations, and cargo handling
• Relevant post-secondary education and marine procedures knowledge
• Understanding of rigging practices and safe cargo operations
• Experience supervising unionized workforces
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel
