SA Loader Operator

The Asphalt Heavy Equipment Front End Loader Operator is an integral part of the asphalt team that works with the crew foreman with primary responsibilities of operating a front-end loader distributing essential components for paving function. The ideal candidate is familiar with paving machines of different types and has a thorough understanding of asphalt paving operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Must be able to run, maneuver, and drive the front-end loader.
  • Heavy equipment experience is a plus.
  • Inspect equipment before operating to make sure it is in good working order and ready for the day, including post shift inspection for the same.
  • Practices awareness of others working alongside the machines, and exercises safety practices at all times. Safety is essential!
  • Perform general laborer duties associated with asphalt paving, patching, or prep crews.
  • Will be expected to leave the machine as required by foreman and job perimeters to help shovel, rake, and handle other tools and equipment.
  • Prior to concluding a shift, equipment must be cleaned and organized to company standards.
  • May be called upon to run power tools.
  • Must demonstrate coordination of function and possess the strength required to use all controls of the equipment on heavy equipment safely.

Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years' experience within the asphalt industry
  • 1-2 years' experience of operating paving equipment
  • Must be organized with a detail-oriented mindset.
  • Must be positive, friendly, and professional.
  • Ability to work well with others in a group or one-on-one setting.
  • Promote, execute and adhere to the company's safety policy, and encourage all employees, subcontractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.
  • Work in a safe, responsible manner to not intentionally or unintentionally injure oneself, or endanger the wellbeing of others.
  • Promote a team approach and maintain dialogue with all employees to exchange information and gather ideas.
  • Collaborate with any project teams on other special initiatives, as required.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements:

  • Mid-Level Position
  • Working knowledge of asphalt production and associated equipment, and an understanding of operations and safety requirements is required.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred, but not required

Working Conditions:

  • Be available for overtime, extended hours, night shifts, and weekends as required.
  • Some travel may be required as our operations span throughout Texas.
  • Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include but not limited to inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
  • Must comply with the company's drug and alcohol testing requirements.
  • Use of Personal Protection Equipment is required.
  • Proper PPE is required at all times.
