Position Overview

The Executive Chef is responsible for all aspects of kitchen operations, including menu development, food quality, financial performance, team leadership, purchasing, inventory management, and execution of culinary standards. This position serves as the primary liaison between front-of-house leadership and the culinary team, ensuring a seamless guest experience and operational alignment.

Key Responsibilities

Culinary Leadership & Menu Development

  • Lead all culinary operations and kitchen management functions
  • Develop innovative seasonal menus, features, and special event offerings
  • Ensure consistency in recipe execution, presentation, and quality standards
  • Stay informed on industry trends, emerging techniques, and guest preferences
  • Drive creativity while maintaining operational efficiency and profitability

Financial & Business Management

  • Maintain full accountability for food cost, labor cost, and kitchen profitability
  • Participate in budgeting, forecasting, purchasing, and procurement processes
  • Review financial reports and identify opportunities to improve performance
  • Manage inventory levels and implement waste reduction initiatives
  • Ensure efficient use of resources while maintaining quality standards

Team Development & Leadership

  • Recruit, train, mentor, and develop culinary team members
  • Build a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement
  • Conduct performance evaluations and coaching sessions
  • Create development plans and succession strategies for key kitchen personnel
  • Foster a collaborative environment focused on excellence and teamwork

Operational Excellence

  • Oversee daily kitchen operations including preparation, execution, and service
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations
  • Maintain organization, cleanliness, and operational efficiency throughout the kitchen
  • Collaborate with restaurant leadership on special events, promotions, and operational initiatives
  • Monitor and uphold all quality assurance standards

Qualifications

Required Experience

  • 10+ years of progressive culinary leadership experience
  • 5+ years as an Executive Chef or senior culinary leader in a fine dining or upscale restaurant environment
  • Proven experience managing high-volume, chef-driven operations
  • Strong background in menu development, cost control, and team leadership

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of P&L management, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Expertise in food costing, labor management, purchasing, and inventory controls
  • Proficiency with restaurant management systems including:
  • Restaurant365
  • Toast POS
  • HotSchedules
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds regularly
  • Ability to work in varying kitchen temperatures and demanding service environments
  • Willingness to travel between restaurant locations and attend special events as needed

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive Salary: $130,000 – $150,000
